Fjeldberg – Devotion for September 8th, 2026

READ (Psalm 118:24)

“This is the day that the Lord has made, let us rejoice and be glad in it.”

REFLECT

We wake each morning with a clean slate!

God’s gift of sleep has renewed and strengthened our bodies during the night. God’s Grace, His love and forgiveness, have prepared us for a new day. How challenging to know that God is waiting for our response to the work he has for us to do. He has strengthened and prepared us! We only need to listen and respond to his needs.

Why is it so difficult?

The Lord made each new day as a gift to each of us! Rain or shine good things and possibly challenging opportunities will be in our path, as we listen and follow where we need to work alongside the creator of each new day.

Yet we resist—we are fearful—we lack trust that our God will provide the tools we need to do His work, yet, he gave us a brand new day to try again.

How faithful our God! He continues to give us a bright clean slate each morning and waits for our response to His calls. Maybe, it is to call or text a friend and/or care for an elderly or sick family member, or maybe it just means smiling at strangers we meet during the day. God is smiling, as we do our little bit to bring His kingdom a little closer to this world of ours.

PRAY

Dear Father in heaven, thank you for the gift of a bright new day every twenty-four hours. Thank you for your love and forgiveness that equip us to serve you. Help us to hear your calls and feel your nudges and have the courage to follow.

In Jesus name, Amen.
