Fjeldberg – Devotion for October 1st, 2026

READ (Exodus 14:21-22)

Then Moses stretched out his hand over the sea. The Lord pushed the sea back by a strong east wind all night, turning the sea into dry land. The waters were split into two. The Israelites walked into the sea on dry ground. The waters formed a wall for them on their right hand and on their left.

REFLECT

We watch and wait for God to work in our world because we have faith that God continues to show up and be present. For the past few weeks, we have been talking about what it looks like to have faith on this journey and continue to live into God’s promises. We know that God is faithful, and we pray that we are able to see God at work around us.

Then comes the more challenging part, following where God calls us to go. The Israelites followed Moses out of slavery in Egypt, praying that God would provide for them, give them a path, and keep them safe. God was present with them through it all. Then they reached the Red Sea. God made a path through the water, and they had to take the next step and walk across.

I don’t know about you, but there are moments when I see God at work, and my prayers are answered. Then it hits me, I still have to take the next step and trust that God will continue to guide me. What step do you need to take in faith right now? What will help you keep trusting God for the journey ahead?

PRAY

God of the journey, be with us this day and in this season. Guide us and give us faith to trust you and go where you call us to go. Thank you for being faithful and continuing to show up in our lives, even when we miss you. Amen.
