Fjeldberg – Devotion for March 17th, 2026

READ (1 Corinthians 3:5-9)

“What, after all, is Apollos? And what is Paul? Only servants, through whom you came to believe - as the Lord has assigned to each his task. I planted the seed, Apollos watered it, but God made it grow. So neither he who plants nor he who waters is anything, but only God who makes things grow. The man who plants and the man who waters have one purpose, and each will be rewarded according to his own labor. For we are God’s fellow workers; you are God’s field, God’s building.”

REFLECT

We rarely think of ourselves as God’s employees, do we? But each of us have been given various abilities intended for creating the environment for God to use in improving people’s lives.

At a recent Habitat build the single mom purchasing the house arrived mid-morning with her two children. The young son, probably around 6 years old, wanted to know where his room would be. The walls were only partially up at that point, but mom showed him where his room would be. He immediately began telling her where everything in his room would be located. His excitement was infectious - he was going to have a home and had obviously given thought to how he would arrange his space.

It is rare to see that immediate an outcome to our planting and watering efforts, but it serves to remind us that whether we see results now, later or never our actions have an impact on lives.

PRAY

Dear Father, Paul’s missive to the Corinthians reminds us that we are your servants tasked with impacting peoples lives. Sometimes we are privileged to see the results. Often we do not see the results but need to trust that you have used our efforts to better people’s lives. Amen.
