Fjeldberg – Devotion for  June 30th, 2026

READ (Matthew 22:37-39)

Jesus said, “Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind. This is the first and greatest commandment. And the second is like it: Love your neighbor as yourself.”

REFLECT

If the most important act we are to do as Christians is to love God COMPLETELY—what does that mean?

Does that mean all of our daily actions should be centered around God? How do we do that?!!

Recently,I was told by a middle age family member, in all sincerity, often when she is struggling with a difficult problem or decision she thinks, “What would Nana do?”  WOW! That well meaning comment hit me hard.

I had never thought that my comments, actions and relationships, as being a pattern for someone else.

According to the Gospel of Matthew, as a Christian, I am called to not only love God completely, but to love my neighbor, which means what I do and say are an important link to loving God and my neighbor.

Sunday, Pastor Tim left us with the reminder that we are called to serve. Could it be that how we live our life each day could be one way we serve Jesus. We serve not only in the obvious ways of volunteering, but in our daily activities and response to others with whom we have contact.

My daughter in law’s comment was not only a wake up call, but it brought me to my knees knowing that I have a loving God, who I can trust to forgive, guide and love me, as I strive to serve Him.

PRAY

Dear Father in Heaven, You have called each of us to serve. You have equipped each of us with unique gifts. Help us to acknowledge these gifts and to have the courage and trust to know that you guide, as we serve. Open our hearts and minds to your nudges.  In Jesus name we pray, Amen.
