Fjeldberg – Devotion for July 21st, 2026

READ (1 Peter 4:8-11)

Above all, love each other deeply, because love covers a multitude of sins. Offer hospitality to one another without grumbling. Each of you should use whatever gift you have received to serve others, as faithful stewards of God’s grace in its various forms. If anyone speaks, they should do so as one who speaks the very words of God. If anyone serves, they should do so with the strength God provides, so that in all things God may be praised through Jesus Christ. To him be the glory and the power for ever and ever. Amen.

REFLECT 

At the end of worship each Sunday, we as a congregation repeat our mission: “Grow in faith, grow in community, share God's love.” These words capture the heart of Peter's message. Christian growth is not meant to happen in isolation. God uses community to shape our faith through relationships marked by love, hospitality, and service.

In today's world, community can stretch us because it calls us to practice patience, grace, and forgiveness. Peter challenges us to love deeply. Deep love requires real relationships where burdens are shared, and differences are navigated with compassion. When we offer hospitality, we open our hearts to the work God wants to do in and through us.

Peter also reminds us that each person has been given gifts by God to serve others. Whether through words of encouragement, acts of service, leadership, generosity, or quiet faithfulness, every gift is an opportunity to reflect God's grace. As we use our gifts for the good of others, our community becomes stronger and our witness to Christ becomes clearer.

By growing in community, we not only strengthen one another's faith but also reflect the heart of Jesus to the world around us. Our Christian community is a gift from God! It’s a place where faith is nurtured, relationships are deepened, and God's love is shared.  

PRAY   

Lord, thank You for the gift of Christian community. Teach us to love deeply, welcome generously, and serve faithfully with the gifts You have given us. Help us to grow together in faith, encouraging one another with grace and compassion. May our relationships reflect Your love, and may our lives point others to Jesus. Strengthen us to be a community that honors You in all we say and do. Amen.
