Fjeldberg – Devotion for  July 2nd, 2026

READ (Matthew 25:40)

"Truth I tell you, whatever you did to the least of these, you did unto me."

REFLECT 
My Great Grandparents and Grandparents left their homes and families to come to America. They dealt with long journeys on ships, leaving their parents and siblings, learning the English language, and perhaps at times wondered if they had made the right decision. I'm grateful they did because of their actions and sacrifices; I am an American citizen. 

My family immigrants chose to leave their home countries. However, other immigrants left to avoid being killed or persecuted because of their ethnic backgrounds or religious beliefs. Also, there were immigrants who were loaded on boats against their will and brought to America. 

Immigration issues have a long history in our Country. The first immigrants to inhabit America were Native Americans. With the influx of other immigrants, they lost their land, language, customs, pride, and lives. 

I think of all of the changes I've witnessed in my lifetime. Advances in medicine, communication, transportation, etc. American Astronauts have landed on and walked on the moon's surface! However, with all of our remarkable accomplishments as a Nation, the Immigration issue has remained unsolved.  

PRAY   

Dear God,

Guide our Governmental Officials to come together and compromise on a solution for a fair and just immigration policy. Amen.
