Fjeldberg – Devotion for January 13th, 2026
READ (Matthew 3:13&15)
“Then Jesus came from Galilee to John at the Jordan, to be baptized by him…it is proper for us in this way to fulfill all righteousness.”
REFLECT
As Jesus noted, baptism is a special event in our spiritual life, a time when we are set on the pathway to a righteous life. Recently, we were so happy for our 3-month-old grandson who was baptized in the presence of family and friends that vowed to help him along on that path. For various reasons, I was not baptized until I was 6 years old. One advantage to that later start is that I remember to this day the moment when the Pastor touched my forehead with the waters of baptism. Though young, I was aware that something very significant had occurred, that I was now marked as a child of God, with an expectation that I would do something good in and with my life. I hope and pray every day that I have.
PRAY
Dear God, thank you for the sacred waters of baptism. Please help us to fulfill the promise of your presence in our lives, in all we say and do. In Jesus’ name we pray, Amen.
