Fjeldberg – Devotion for February 19th, 2026
READ (1 Thessalonians 5:18
“Give thanks in all circumstances; for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus.”
REFLECT
Gratitude often feels easiest when life is calm and predictable. But most of our days aren’t like that. They’re loud, messy, and full of motion — school schedules, activities, endless errands, and yes, even things like cookie sales and late-night homework. Yet this verse doesn’t say “give thanks when things are easy.” It says in all circumstances. Not because every circumstance is good, but because God is present in every one of them.
Sometimes the very things that exhaust us are also the greatest gifts. The noise of children, the chaos of busy evenings, the interruptions that derail our plans — these are signs of life, growth, and relationships. Gratitude shifts our focus. Instead of seeing only stress, we begin to see blessings woven into ordinary moments. Thankfulness doesn’t remove the busyness, but it transforms how we experience it.
PRAY
Lord, thank You for the gifts we sometimes overlook — for family, for laughter, for busy days filled with purpose and connection. Help us to carry grateful hearts not only in joyful moments but also in the ordinary and overwhelming ones. Teach us to recognize Your presence in every part of our lives. Amen.
