Fjeldberg – Devotion for November 13th, 2025
READ (1 Kings 17:14)
For thus says the Lord, the God of Israel: The jar of meal will not be emptied, and the jug of oil will not fail until the day that the Lord sends rain on the earth.
REFLECT
Over the past few Sundays, we’ve been talking about God’s abundance. Has your perspective on abundance shifted? I know mine has, I've working to shift my mindset to focus less on what feels lacking and more on what God has already given. We live in a world that thrives on scarcity. It constantly tries to convince us that we aren’t enough, don’t have enough, or won’t be enough unless we possess certain things, go to certain places, or belong to certain groups. This scarcity mindset can rob us of the abundant life God offers and even of God’s joy.
When life feels like it’s “not enough”, whether it’s resources, time, knowledge, or anything else, pause for a moment. Pray. Reflect. Ask yourself: Is the world’s standard of scarcity creeping in, causing me to overlook the many ways God has already blessed me? It’s easy to fall into this trap, but God’s provision is real, and God is at work in ways we often don’t notice.
PRAY
God of abundance, you have blessed us richly in a world that always craves more. Open our hearts and minds to see your abundant joy and blessings and guide us to share them generously with others. Amen.
