Fjeldberg – Devotion for October 16th, 2025

READ (James 1:2-4)
“Consider it pure joy, my brothers and sisters, whenever you face trials of many kinds, because you know that the testing of your faith produces perseverance. Let perseverance finish its work so that you may be mature and complete, not lacking anything.”

REFLECT

Do you ever feel like life piles on, one responsibility after another, until you’re left wondering how you’ll keep it all together? Those moments can feel heavy, but they’re also moments where God shapes something within us. James reminds us that perseverance isn’t built in comfort; it’s forged in the middle of difficulty.

When we face trials, it’s not that God delights in our struggle, but that He sees the potential it holds. Each challenge is a training ground for faith, endurance, and maturity. What feels like pressure may actually be preparation. The weight we carry today might be strengthening us for what He’s calling us to do tomorrow.

So instead of asking “Why me?”, maybe the better question is “What is God building in me?”

PRAY:

Dear God, thank you for ‘pushing’ us beyond our comfort zone. It can be uncomfortable, but we grow and develop perseverance as a result. Please help us to accept trials and tribulations with grace and humility. In your name we pray, Amen.
