Bible Text
There is a season for everything and a time for every matter under the heavens:
A time for giving birth and a time for dying, a time for planting and a time for uprooting what was planted. (Ecclesiastes 3:1-2)
Reflect
This past Sunday, Pastor Tim talked about planting seeds of faith and living out our Christian faith.
We here in Iowa have seasons that change. As winter emerges into spring, the trees begin to get that faint green blush, flowers begin to push up through the ground and the earth begins to renew. The farmers begin to work the fields, seeds are planted and we watch for the plants to emerge and fields change from black to green. Summer gives us growth and full plants that start to bare fruit. But with summer also comes storms. Fall brings the harvest. Gone are the green plants, now turned brown. With winter the fields are left to rest.
So it is with our lives and our faith. We sow the seeds of Christian love and God’s everlasting grace. We may not make it through some of the storms in our life to actually see the growth and the harvest those seeds have produced.
These verses from Ecclesiastes give us a lot to think about. What are the seasons of your life? There is Good News: God is with us through every season and through His Son, Jesus Christ, there is everlasting forgiveness and grace!
Pray
Thank you, God, for walking beside us through every season. Thank you for sending your awesome Son to show us the way to live, to love our neighbor, and to serve. Most of all thank you for your forgiveness because we really mess up. We love you, Lord! Amen.
