Fjeldberg – Devotion for October 2nd, 2025

READ (Galatians 3:26-28)
You are all God’s children through faith in Christ Jesus. All of you who were baptized into Christ have clothed yourselves with Christ. There is neither Jew nor Greek; there is neither slave nor free; nor is there male and female, for you are all one in Christ Jesus.

REFLECT

Paul reminds through his letter to the people of Galatia, that in Christ, we get our true identity. Our identity is not found in the labels or divisions that so often defined in the world around us. We are all children of God through faith, clothed in Christ’s righteousness through baptism. There is a place at the table for each and every one of us.

Labels can so often divide, whether cultural, political, or social, but they do not hold ultimate power over us. In Christ, we are one body, one community, bound together not by agreement on everything, but by God’s grace poured out for all. In a time where it feels like so much can push us apart, we can take hold of this Good News. As a Church, we should be a living witness when we see one another first as siblings in Christ, called to love, forgive, and bear one another’s burdens.

PRAY:

God of unity, give us strength and courage to see you at work in this world, to look past our human labels of our neighbor, and into the creation that you have called us into. Give us boldness to take steps to unify rather than divide, and peace when we feel separated from you or the world around us. Amen.
