Fjeldberg – Devotion for September 30th, 2025

READ (Psalm 62:5-6)
For God alone my soul waits in silence, for my hope is from him. He alone is my rock and salvation, my fortress; I shall not be shaken.

REFLECT

Lutherans love to sing, “A mighty fortress is our God” especially when the foundations are shaking. Today there is a lot of foundation shaking going on and many people are seeking a place of refuge.

For me, my refuge is my personal time of prayer/meditation but also important to me is the communion with others at church as we experience God’s love, comfort, and message.

The story is told about a small boy, after his boat capsized in the lake, managed to swim to the safety of a huge rock rising above the water. When he was rescued after spending the entire night in darkness, he was asked, “Didn’t you tremble on that rock during the night?” “Sure, he replied, “I trembled, but that rock didn’t move the whole night through.”

PRAY:

Lord, we thank you that you are our rock and our fortress which cannot be moved. Amen.
