Fjeldberg – Devotion for July 24, 2025

READ (Luke 2:10-11)
The angel said, “Don’t be afraid! Look! I bring good news to you—wonderful, joyous news for all people. Your savior is born today in David’s city. He is Christ the Lord.

REFLECT
Merry Christmas! (No, I haven’t lost track of the calendar.) Even though it’s July, this Good News is worth celebrating every single day.

Sure, we usually save the Christmas story for December when the lights are glowing, snow is falling, and peppermint everything is back in season. But maybe pausing to remember Christ’s birth now, when life is moving fast and the sun is blazing, helps us see it in a new light.

There’s no holiday hustle right now. No lists to check twice or gifts to wrap. Just the simple (and powerful) reminder: God came to be with us. God came to be with you.

Maybe God feels distant lately, or you’re not sure where you stand in your faith. But this Good News, the birth of our Savior, is a reminder that God doesn’t remain at a distance. God shows up. God still does. And that changes everything.

So, go outside soak in the sunshine (and humidity), and celebrate the Savior who meets us in every season.

PRAY
God with us, remind us of your presence in our life. In times of our life where we feel far from you, draw near to us and remind us that you never leave us. Amen.
