Fjeldberg – Devotion for August 29, 2024
READ (Joshua 6:5) It shall come to pass, when they make a long blast with the ram’s horn, and when you hear the sound of the trumpet, that all the people shall shout with a great shout; then the wall of the city will fall down flat. And the people shall go up every man straight before him.
REFLECT Recently I was reading bedtime stories to my granddaughter from her children’s Bible, and we came to the story of the walls of Jericho coming down. God instructed Joshua to march around the city walls for seven days, and on the seventh day the walls would crash down. The walls of Jericho should have been indestructible. What Joshua and the Israelites were up against may have seemed impossible to overcome. But they followed God anyway with full trust and hope in His promise, having faith that He would indeed fight for them to claim the land that was promised to them.
Even if the path seems impossible or is not what we expected, when we follow God’s plans for us and put our trust in Him, that is when the impossible can happen.
PRAY: Dear God, help us to remember to follow Your plan on life’s journey, and to put our trust in You. Amen
