Fjeldberg – Devotion for Aug 7th, 2025

READ (Matthew 11:28)
“Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you
rest.”

REFLECT
Some days feel like a sprint from the moment the alarm goes off. Between trying to be productive at work, being an unpaid Uber driver for the kids’ activities, and trying to find time to work out, it’s easy to feel like you’re failing at everything. The mental load doesn’t clock out, it just shifts gears from deadlines to dinner plans to discussions with a tiny human about why you can’t have ice cream at 9:30 at night. You go to bed tired and wake up even more tired, wondering if you’ll ever get ahead. (oh yeah, and the lawn still needs to be mowed!)

The beautiful thing is, Jesus doesn’t tell us to try harder, He tells us to come to Him. He invites us, weary and overloaded, in His rest, not when the dishes are done, but now, right in the middle of the chaos. Rest isn’t just physical, it’s knowing we’re loved even when we’re spread thin and running late (again). In Christ, we are enough, even on the days when the to-do list wins.

PRAY
Lord, you see the weight we all carry and the days that feel too short. Help us to find rest in You, not just when the work is done. Remind us that our worth isn’t in what we accomplish, but in who we belong to. Amen.
