Fjeldberg – Devotion for Aug 5th, 2025
READ (Matthew 6:25-27)
Therefore I tell you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or drink; or about your body, what you will wear. Is not life more important than food, and the body more important than clothes? Look at the birds of the air; they do not sow or reap or store away in barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not much more valuable than they? Who of you by worrying can add a single hour to his life?
REFLECT
As a wife and mother, packing for a trip can be so stressful. I find myself worrying that we don’t forget anything: first aid kit, road snacks, drinks, games, toiletries, and of course we must not forget the suitcases…with clothes in them. The list can become quite extensive, and then someone says “well, if we forget it, we can buy it.” Of course we can, it’s not like we are going to some remote destination that will not have provisions we can purchase.
The nice thing about our faith walk, is we don’t have to purchase anything. Our heavenly Father already settled the bill for anything we would ever need in our faith. When I find myself worrying over things in life, I remember this and I find the strength I need to make it through another day. Sometimes, I can even stop, take a breath, and find peace.
PRAY
God who provides, thank you for sending Jesus to pay the price for our eternal strength and life with you. Help us to remember the well of grace you provide for us and to share that grace with everyone in our lives. In Jesus’ name we pray, Amen.
