Fjeldberg – Devotion for November 25th, 2025

READ (Psalm 136:1-3)
“Give thanks to the Lord, for he is good. His love endures forever.

Give thanks to the God of gods. His love endures forever: 

Give thanks to the Lord of lords. His love endures forever.”  

REFLECT

The 26 verses of Psalm 136 list many attributes of God and his past efforts on behalf of the Israelites. Each verse repeats the chorus “His love endures forever”.  

America celebrates Thanksgiving in two days.  

Psalm 136 is a fitting reminder to give thanks to God for all the blessings He has bestowed on us in the past and present. Give thanks that he loves and cares for us. Give thanks that we live in a country dedicated to freedom. Give thanks for trials of the past that were resolved. Give thanks for the triumphs that we enjoyed. Give thanks for the opportunities of the coming year.  

There’s an old cantata that includes the song “Praise The Lord and Give Thanks, America”. Something we should do every day but especially this Thursday as we gather with friends and family.  

PRAY

Loving God. Far too often we forget to be thankful to you for the blessings you provide us daily. Help us in the coming year to live in gratitude and to share with others the news that you lovingly provide for our needs. Amen.
