Fjeldberg – Devotion for December 9th, 2025

READ (Psalm 121:1-2,8)

I lift up my eyes to the hills - from where will my help come?  My help comes from the Lord, who made heaven and earth.  The Lord will keep your going out and your coming in from this time on and forevermore.

REFLECT

Many of us find ourselves in the role of caregiver…perhaps to a spouse, parent, sibling, child or friend. As much as one tries to look for the joy in each day with gratitude, it can be a very demanding and challenging role.

Rosalynn Carter once said there were only 4 kinds of people in the world.  “Those who have been caregivers, those who are currently caregivers, those who will be caregivers, and those who will need caregivers.”

The verses from Psalm 121 remind us that we are not alone and our lives  are in God’s protection. God’s promise to be available to us never changes and the load is lightened with the loving protection of God’s presence. God also sends special people into our lives to share in the caregiving of our loved ones. Thanks be to God.

PRAY

Gracious God, You are the ultimate caregiver. I look to you in days of darkness and in light, trusting that you will keep my going out and coming in, today, and through all the days of my life. Amen.
