Fjeldberg – Devotion for December 23rd, 2025
READ (Luke 2:19)
But Mary treasured up all these things and pondered them in her heart.
REFLECT
This is such a short verse in the story of Jesus’ birth. With all the hustle and bustle of the census surrounding them, and the shepherds hurrying away to tell everyone what they had seen, this verse draws our attention to Mary. I picture her sitting there quietly, holding her precious baby trying to soak it all in, and wondering about many things. What new mother doesn’t?
We get but a glimpse of that night and yet we still believe over 2,000 years later. We still carry the love and grace that Jesus brought into the world. We need daily reminders to share the grace and love that has been bestowed upon us. For this reason, the nativity scene is displayed in our home year-round to remind us that we are Christmas people, we are called to something bigger and to share it with all the world.
PRAY
Loving God, it is because of your love and grace that we are here. Help us to remember to share the wonderful story of your love with everyone we meet. In Jesus’ name we pray, Amen.
