Fjeldberg – Devotion for December 16th, 2025
READ (Luke 2:10-11)
“But the angel said to them, “Do not be afraid. I bring you good news that will cause great joy for all the people. Today in the town of David a Savior has been born to you; he is the Messiah, the Lord.”
REFLECT
It’s interesting to think that the first human reaction to the angels was fear. Even though their presence was terrifying, the message of the angels was one of comfort and joy. For centuries, prophets, priests, and kings foretold the promised Messiah. Year after year, they prayerfully anticipated His arrival. On that first Christmas night, an angel announced the Messiah’s arrival and the world changed forever. During this Christmas season, don’t allow busyness, if you have enough presents under the tree, or even familiarity to distract you from anticipating and celebrating God’s greatest gift – wrapped in swaddling clothes and sleeping in a manger – Jesus, your Messiah.
PRAY
Faithful God, thank You for the good news of great joy that Jesus has come to save us. Help us to rejoice in this hope and share it with others. Continue to strengthen our faith as we celebrate the good tidings of great joy. Amen.
