Fjeldberg – Devotion for April 16th, 2026

READ (Genesis 1:11-12)

God said, “Let the earth grow plant life: plants yielding seeds and fruit trees bearing fruit with seeds inside it, each according to its kind throughout the earth.” And that’s what happened. The earth produced plant life: plants yielding seeds, each according to its kind, and trees bearing fruit with seeds inside it, each according to its kind. God saw how good it was.

REFLECT

I think springtime is the prettiest time of year. First, we see the tiniest crocus, then some larger ones and some snowdrops. Then a few daffodils, forsythia, and before you know it the world is in bloom—tulips, redbuds, crabapples. God saw how good it was.

When the cares and troubles of this world start to weigh me down, I think about the world that God created. In spite of negative news headlines, disappointing relationships, a failed test, or an annoying “check engine” light, the flowers keep growing and blooming every spring. And they are beautiful, without fail.

We are part of God’s beautiful creation too. When we look for ways to spread justice, mercy, and love, we are also a part of a world that God calls “very good”. When we see the flowers of springtime, we can be reminded of God’s beautiful design for our world and for our lives.

PRAY

Creator God, your handiwork is everywhere, if we only stop to look. Give us eyes to see the beauty you’ve created, and willing hearts to share your abundant world of blessings with others. Amen.
