Fjeldberg – Devotion for April 14th, 2026

READ (Hebrews 11:7)

“By faith Noah, when warned about things not yet seen, in holy fear built an ark to save his family. By faith he condemned the world and became heir of the righteousness that comes by faith.”

REFLECT 

What an example for us is the story of Noah. Go build an ark expecting the entire world will be flooded. It took him and his sons years to complete the structure. Perhaps the neighbors scorned and scoffed at his labors. 

When finally done, he becomes a zookeeper. Probably not what he expected when he started. 

Sometimes what God puts before us seems an unreasonable challenge. But God has a plan and it is our responsibility to step out in faith and follow through. 

In Judges 7 Gideon obeys God and sends most of his army home which normally isn’t the best tactical idea. But Gideon’s smaller force won the battle. 

Consider 1Samuel 17 where shepherd boy David prevails against large, professional soldier Goliath because David believed his God would give him victory. 

The scriptures are full of commands from God to many different people that from our perspective seem unrealistic. Most held to their faith and prevailed. 

If we hold by faith to the promises of God, he will give us the strength to succeed.  

PRAY   

Lord we often falter when challenges confront us. Remind us of the assistance you gave Noah, Gideon and David because they walked in faith that you are all powerful. Assist us to hold onto our faith in you so that the victory can be won for your glory. Amen.
