Fjeldberg – Devotion for March 5th, 2026
READ (1 Thessalonians 5:10-11)
Jesus died for us so that, whether we are awake or asleep, we will live together with him. So continue encouraging each other and building each other up, just like you are doing already.
REFLECT
Paul wrote to the people of Thessalonica, especially the Christians. At that time, the Christians were worried about what was going to happen; they faced persecution and confusion about the future. Those were anxious times, and I'm so glad that we have moved past that uncertainty.
Actually, we find ourselves in moments like the first-century Christians did, and many Christians since then as well. We live in a divided world where hate and violence seem to prevail. I lament that this is our reality, yet I have hope. Hope that Jesus is coming back. Hope that our future is not based on things of this world, but on Jesus who has overcome the world.
I find great comfort in the words of Paul, encouraging the early Christians and us to keep encouraging each other. This is not a small thing, but a big act of faith. Let's keep awake and watchful for ways that we can encourage each other, reminding our neighbor of God's love and Jesus's presence.
PRAY
God of light and hope, be with us in moments of life that feel too heavy. Give us a community that surrounds us and reminds us of your love and presence. Give us bold faith to encourage our neighbors to keep following you and living as you call us to live. Amen.
